I think this song is a reminder that when old memories creep up in your mind...that you don't have to suppress them (even the painful ones) but instead can happily embrace them and remember how they have lead you to where you are today and how they have made you WHO you are today. Everything in life happens for reasons that are often unknown to us at the time but most assuredly are directing us in the directions we need to be going to fulfill our destiny. In other words there are never any mistakes in life, sometimes later on in life we realize why something happened because we gain a new perspective and the pain is no longer there. Everything is temporary and our lives are ever changing and people are moving in and out (even the really important ones that we love most). Instead of being afraid of what will be or ashamed of where you have been you should look back on your memories and always smile. You are always changing and becoming newer and better versions of yourself so long as you are alive because you are forever learning how to love others as well as yourself and sharing new experiences that will also one day be memories as well. :-)
