The Age Is Still Golden

Sometimes there is no better feeling than that of immersing yourself in a good film. The art of cinema going, kicking back on the couch (which may or may not inhabit more pillow than acceptable seating space) or perhaps even a shifty download of the latest offering is more your style? We don’t judge. Whatever the format or preferred viewing method, the majority of us human beings are simply suckers for a good storyline. Film is sort of like magic in the fact that it has this bizarre ability to, for just a little while, transport you into an entirely alternate dimension where theatre, music and visual arts collaborate and complement one another, evolving into an entirely new formation which often becomes greater than the sum of its parts.

Good cinema draws you in using powerful methods that dramatize the narrative, creating stories that play out in a much more interesting manner than the way our everyday unfolds. It allows us to experience ideas and emotions that often, we may not have ever before. When deep within the storyline, poignant moments occur that when witnessed by your pupils, strike a chord and trigger your thoughts into overdrive. If only we could peer inside the brain when this occurs, one would most probably find themselves witnessing a bright, glittery haven where fireworks and confetti dance through the air in gleeful celebration. On the outside, trapped within your assigned seat, the disapproving looks of your accompanying patrons and surrounding walls of the cinema complex your outward expression is confined to a mere tap of the foot or clap of the hands. The beauty of the whole experience is that it allows us to exit feeling a little different to when we entered. The connective possibilities of cinema raises an awareness and curiosity of cultures other than our own and allows our very values and perspectives to be challenged. There really is no better reason for something to exist.

We like to design with meaning and intent, so that our clients perspectives are challenged and they exit our studio feeling a little different to when they entered. That is the power of good design.
