Drug Pushers

This is a pet peeve of mine. I believe pharmaceutical companies should be banned from television advertising. This is like a bad science fiction movie to me that we are living in... pharmaceutical companies peddling drugs on television. Take cialis, take ambien, take prozac, take a drug for every symptom you have, don't bother exploring the reason for your dis-ease.... profit motives of corporations seem to eliminate human integrity... always seeking ways to brainwash consumers... and in this case they want to create a nation of drug addicts. I'm not saying that there aren't good and necessary medications that save lives. But this is a nightmare. I can't watch tv for an hour without being inundated with ten different kinds of drugs to eliminate a woman's menstrual cycle, create a longer lasting erection, cure insomnia, relieve anxiety.... and by the way it will relieve your anxiety but the side effects are nausea, headache, weight gain, convulsions, blood clots, and death.... sheez.

Thank you so much for this story...so true!!

I hate those too and I totally agree with you. Meds so often mask the root and more serious problems. Your body displays the symptoms as a warning sign and the idea of blocking it out is just absurd. Don't even get me started on the greed and drug pushing and how that is becoming more important than actually helping people.

I ALSO HATE THESE ADS,THAT'WHY I HIT THE MUTE BUTTON.BUT I SAW A TALK SHOW ABOUT THIS WHICH SAID THESE ADS HELP PEOPLE.HOW?ACCORDING TO THE SHOW PEOPLE HAVE GOTTEN SMARTER ABOUT THEIR HEALTH,THEN TAKE STEPS TO PREVENT PROBLEMS.I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH I BELIEVE THAT.

I'm old enough to remember when it was "Illegal" to advertise for medical reasons. What a nice time that was. I think it was back in the 60's? But, we had cigarette commercials then and doctors did advocate Camels I remember. Unbelievable but true.

I'm with you on this one, Rebecca. Plus it undermines good health care when you go to the doctor - there's a simultaneous campaign to inundate them with the same basket of drug products plus $ and gifts to sweeten the package. It's info overload, and knocks the overall picture out of balance. This is people's health that's getting compromised for crying out loud, your grandpa's and your little niece's and everybody else's.

Ha ha, yeah! American TV is crazy for that ****. It's kinda scary. In Ireland, we only have to deal with headaches and constipation :)
