I Disagree With Childrens Beauty Pageants
I loathe children's beauty pageants. When did public opinion change? Has everyone forgotten little JonBenet Ramsey? After she died, people were so against them..and now they are embraced. I don't think anything good comes from forcing your child to forsake their normal childhood of playing at the playground, getting dirty, making mud pies...for dressing your child like they are a miniature adult and forcing them to attend a plethora of classes. I just fail to understand how this is not viewed as exploitation. Cutest baby contests? Sure.. but the childhood pageants are wrong.
I have never once (and never will) watch that ridiculous toddlers and tiaras show. But, I have heard enough about it..that I seriously have to question what is wrong with these parents, that they would want to expose their children to the ugly, nasty side of these pageants? Not to mention you are instilling upon your child that looks is the most important quality to have as a person. There is something very wrong with these parents. It saddens me the children are the victims, with little or no choice in the matter. I think it's a way for the parents to compensate for something within their own childhood or lives that they are using their child, vicariously fulfilling that what was..or is...missing. It's just wrong.
