Mind Games?

When, a few days ago, my wife told me I was to be "dealt with" for wearing shoes in the house and treading pine needles into the rugs, I was anticipating another caning or strapping. On my way home I received a text from her saying she would be about half an hour late from work but that she wanted me naked and in the main bedroom by the time she got home.
When she arrived I heard her go to the drinks cabinet but she did not come to the bedroom for a good twenty minutes. When she at last appeared she had a glass of wine in one hand and a hair brush in the other. I thought I would be going over her knee or leaning over the bed for a hairbrush spanking, but instead she told me to kneel, then gave me a furious reprimand about my selfish behaviour. I actually felt myself shaking. Afterwards she ordered me to remove all trace of needles in the rugs which was a tedious task as I was on my hands and knees picking the needles out one at a time. My wife came to inspect the work several times, but there was no physical punishment as I had been expecting all day.
I think my wife is playing a few mind games in order to keep me on my toes and not allow me to anticipate.
