I Dislike Fake Photos

What's The Point?

I don't understand why people post fake pics on their profiles. Nobody likes a fake or deceitful person.  It's alright if you post them if you label them as not you.  I guess some people like to play mind games or are too insecure to post real pics of themselves.  A friendship can't be based on lies.

    I agree with you, when it comes to someone deliberately putting up pics of someone else, implying or stating that it is them. Some people just have pictures of random males or females as avatars and change them to others, which is not an issue for me. The issue of anonymity can be a significant factor. Software can now sweep the internet, identifying the same face and then collecting together all the sites. So, posting the real you can sometimes be unwise, especially if you have stalker problems, as I know some people on here do.



    Others are quite relaxed about posting pictures of themselves, of course.

      I do, but I don't ever plan on seeing them in person, so I am not sure it matters much. Now if they show me a pic of a hot sexy young lady and tell me it is she, then yeah, I would be pissed. I have seen five or six woman in my year plus on EP with the same nude photo album? I wonder who is telling the truth?

    Amen sister! If you dont want to show your face, then choose a little wooden artist's dummy :D or your dog, or something else ... jsut dont try to pass off someone else's pics as your own. I agree ... there is no point to being fake!!

    I understand that some people may simply want to remain anonymous. I also understand that some people (like me) aren't comfortable with their appearance. In either case, they can just go with a photo that doesn't identify them or choose an interesting avatar or even the generic "blue person" that EP offers.



    I don't see the point in people posting photos off the internet and claiming it's them. Maybe they think they will attract more attention if they pose as someone else. Maybe they think they will never meet anyone here, so what's the big deal? As someone else here said though, a lie is no basis to begin a friendship.

    Please realize that EP was created as an anonymous site, and that's what many of like about it. I've had a stalker after me since 1965 (true) and can't afford to have my real picture anywhere on the internet. I do agree that posting someone else's photo as your own is deceitful and would never do it: this is why I use generic, unidentifiable, non-human pix on my profile. Nobody thinks I'm a big ol' brown tabby cat, or Little Lulu--I'm not trying to be deceitful, just safe.

      This story isn't aimed at people in your situation. People with animal and fantasy pics are fine because one can tell that isn't you. It is aimed at people using pics of other people and telling everyone it is them. I am very sorry you have a stalker. That is awful and scary.

    I agree so much with what you say. It would seem that there is so much of that on EP. But I'm me and that's all I can be, lol. And I'm glad that you are you. :-)
