I don't know where you're located, but one factor that causes this is that when the "Question of the Day" and the "Caption of the Day" are first posted, it's midnight on the west coast. For many other EPers it's 2 or 3 AM. By the time many people get on first thing in the morning, 50-100 people have already answered! If you submit answer #101, who is even going to bother reading it? The earliest answers have the best chance of getting the most votes... West coasters and night owls.

Thank you for the info.........I am one who "if the question is interesting or could have a funny response" will usually scan the list of answers as best I can and have voted for the best in my opinion but the best I felt never wins. ha And once I almost responded with an answer (before looking at the list) and somone had already posted it except I changed one word different than the winning answer, which actually to me made my answer more interesting and funny. So I deleted my answer thinking it not fair and look like I copied their answer. Well next day to my surprise that answer won. ha Makes me wonder now had I went ahead and posted mine with the one word change that made it funny..........would it have had a chance??

I will explain what happens here for clarification.Question and Caption of the day are asked at the same time every day.The people who answer first are going to attract votes fairly quickly.Once the first few who have answered and have been voted up their answers are always the first ones to be seen.So on it goes,as their answers are at the top of the list most people only read the first few therefore they attract more and more votes.

People who answer later in the day will join the list at the bottom, lets say there are 20 answers the top few will have been voted up several times and the ones who have answered last will be at the bottom of the list where people tend not to look, therefore the best answer is almost always overlooked merely because it was answered later in the day resulting in it getting "lost" amongst all the other answers above it.

To sum up people tend only to vote on the answers that are leading in votes, they tend not to read all the answers only those at the top of the page. This results in the same people who are on line when the question is asked are usually the ones who win.

I have come to the same conclusion about "Caption for the day"...It is usually won by the same crowd over & over...Maybe they just vote for each other.....As far as "correct answers" to "Qs", the questioner probably has every right to pick whatever answer he or she feels is the best one......and don't forget, you, too, can ask questions whenever you want to.....I ask a lot of "Qs", but I am very careful to give the BA to whomever I feels has earned it, regardless as to whether or not the answer is from one of my friends.

Q&A's, yes I have asked a few also, but have also deleted several because of the rude answers/comments of some of the people. So I tend to not ask many Q's anymore.

I had noticed that about the favorites, I do know that I was able to find someone very witty with a lot of insight and we chat daily about life and experiences we have both shared and it is like a breath of fresh air.
