Good for you. I have not drank in over 10 years. Not drinking makes life so much easier.

There comes a time when "the hangovers hurt more than they used too" and "corn bread and ice tea take the place of pills and 90 proof" Still dry ??

I quit drinking almost 30 years ago. As a character I admire once said, "I prefer to experience life in all its agonizing glory."

    Good for you.

I still drink but only on rare occasions and usually only one.

Nothing wrong with it, just I have moved on. Besides I get in enough trouble without drinking.

    Bare Hugs

Good for you!!! Keep saying that!! Alcohol can help but then it grips you and ruins your life. If you say I'm not an alcoholic, I just .....stop right there. I NEVER drank. During A time in life I took to it like a duck to water. Before anyone realized it I was a hard core alcoholic. And it happened while I thought I was in

control. Until I had to drink in order not to be sick. Early morning, I was drinking gin and tonics, the first one at the toilet in case it came back up. You get the heaves and nausea if you don't have alcohol, although when you rush down for that first one it can make you sick too. Once you get one down you are ok. OK from the sick, and start to feel that wonderful high. It's like that for you and you just think you are acting great. Those around you are disgusted and shocked that such a thing had happened to woman who was so "no nonsense" had ALWAYS been the designated driver. Who sat with her father as he died fom alcohol and was so anti alcohol. I have not had a drink since 1992 and know that I can never touch alcohol or I'll be back in it. It was very hard to stop it was hell. And I still punish myself for it.

I sound like some gung-ho AA person but AA was not the answer for me. I did not learn a thing from the place tho many have, I just lost all credibility, and after all this time it still haunts me.I miss my old life. I never miss alcohol.
