Christianity Demeans Women

1.) It is their insistence that there is only one path to God and that path must go through Christ that is most objectionable. With this declaration comes the blackmail that all of us who are non believers MUST spend eternity damned in Hell if we do not believe that Christ and only Christ is our savior.

(2.) I would have a live and let live attitude towards their narrow minded belief if they were not so self-righteous. If they did not believe so strongly that it was there sacred duty to convert ALL who did not share their beliefs. They believe it is their duty to influence our political system. They work with crusaders zeal to have their members elected to everything from school boards to the President so as to control public policies. They want to demand that we all conform to their paradigm of what is true. From evolution, sex education, abortion and gay rights to tax exemptions for their there Church they are self righteous in there beliefs.

(3.) On a more subtle level all Christians impede women’s’ rights. The more “right wing/conservative “branches clearly demand that a woman’s place is to be subservient to her husband. But even the most liberal sects still fail to fully accept the feminine side of our Creator. The Goddess in all Her aspects is denied in their worship. Some women have been accepted as functioning Priest BUT not as Priestess. Central to Christian beliefs is the dogma that males are dominate. God is referred to as He. His son is male. All that is holy is first of all male. Early Gnostics accepted God's feminine side and emphasized the important role of Christ closest companion Mary. Mary was not a prostitute but most beloved of the disciples. Mary was at the crucifixion and Mary was at the resurrection. This religion that was born in the most female controlling part of the world still embraces the core belief that women are second class citizens.

There are hundreds of thousands of religions in the world. If God set these up for us to learn to worship Him properly, learn to love one another, and have useful, peaceful lives, we can only arrive at one of two conclusions: Either he failed miserably or he didn't set them up in the first place and something else is behind them. What do you think? :)

Or, God doesn't need us to "worship her properly", love one another, or have "useful, peaceful lives". Maybe the world is working exactly as intended; if God is all powerful, all knowing, can it be any other way?

First of all, it is thanks to God that “we have life and move and exist.” (Acts 17:28) Giving us life surely shows his loving concern for us!

Further, Jehovah supplies what we need in order for us to stay alive. We read: “He is making green grass sprout for the beasts, and vegetation for the service of mankind, to cause food to go forth from the earth.” (Psalm 104:14) In fact, our Creator does more than provide the bare necessities of life. He generously gives “rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling [our] hearts to the full with food and good cheer.”—Acts 14:17.

Still, some may wonder, ‘If God loves us so much, why is he allowing us to suffer?’

Much of mankind’s suffering is self-inflicted. For example, the dangers of certain high-risk activities are well-known. Still, people engage in sexual immorality, abuse alcohol, marijuana and other drugs, use tobacco, participate in extreme sports, drive too fast, and so forth. If such risky behavior results in suffering, who is to blame? God or the one acting unwisely? God’s inspired Word says: “Do not be misled: God is not one to be mocked. For whatever a man is sowing, this he will also reap.”—Galatians 6:7.

God hates all forms of exploitation and abuse. (Exodus 22:22; Deuteronomy 27:19; Isaiah 10:1, 2) The Mosaic Law condemned rape and prostitution. (Leviticus 19:29; Deuteronomy 22:23-29) Adultery was prohibited, and the penalty was death for both parties. (Leviticus 20:10) Rather than discriminate against women, the Law elevated and protected them from the rampant exploitation common in the surrounding nations. A capable Jewish wife was a highly respected and esteemed individual. (Proverbs 31:10, 28-30) The Israelites’ failure to follow God’s laws on showing respect for women was their fault, not God’s will. (Deuteronomy 32:5) Ultimately, God judged and punished the nation as a whole for their flagrant disobedience.

Jesus consistently treated women with respect. He refused to follow the discriminatory traditions and regulations taught by the Pharisees. He talked to non-Jewish women. (Matthew 15:22-28; John 4:7-9) He taught women. (Luke 10:38-42) He protected women from being abandoned. (Mark 10:11, 12) Perhaps the most revolutionary step for his time was that Jesus accepted women into his inner circle of friends. (Luke 8:1-3) As the perfect embodiment of all of God’s qualities, Jesus showed that individuals of both sexes have equal value in God’s eyes. In fact, among the early Christians, both men and women received the gift of the holy spirit. (Acts 2:1-4, 17, 18) For those anointed, who have the prospect of serving as kings and priests with Christ, there will be no distinction of gender at all once resurrected to heavenly life. (Galatians 3:28) The Author of the Bible, Jehovah, does not discriminate against women.

I agree 100% women are controled by reglin . ive seen this
men can do as they will but women are treated like a breader and all they are good for is
breading and giving thier husbands sons . iam not just speaking about some penacoastal people but there are others , cant cut thier hair ware make up must ware dressess to the floor ,but the men are treated like kings . its crazy . i think people shouldnt be controled by religin of any kind . its more than just the christans that treat women baldy how about the ones that marry young teens and bread the women to death and it goes on and on , its about the lust of man and how many kids he can make the men that marrys sisters , daughters young women its all wrong . but theres other relgins that do the same kind of abuse of women , in other countrys a woman must be covered from head to toe , if a womans rappped shes stoned . but i ask what ever relgin your in women should be respected they carry your babys .its just sad how women of other relgins are treated , my husband is christan and he treast me as his equal but he is the head of our house .he treats me like his queen and i treat him as my king , in other words we respect eachother .

So true, boo christianity

NeonBlueMidnight I agree, organized religions are about political power/money.

. levin60kitty, I would love to read the chapters that were removed in 300 AD.

Yeah, and don't ever think they didn't do it like that on purpose. From "pro-life" to the witch hunts, Christianity and it's precursors have been about the subjugation of women since Moses. Not just women, but I think they understand that if they can keep the women down, they can keep the whole human race down.

I am happy now that I asked you to comment. Hows the weather at your place?...DD

OK. I know not to brother you about my plea for understanding...However, like my Mother-in-law I like you for your strong mind. I hope we can put my mistake behind us and move on to other things. Please allow me to be your friend.

I am hoping that others will under stand my NEED, to attempt, to explain my love for my religion. Unfortunately, other Christians have long felt their need to ridicule and harass the Wiccan who worship our Goddess. I have been attacked all of my life since 1956. No one heard my plea to back off.

Now I am trying. Trying now before I die to explain, to set the record straight, I am Wiccan and I worship, love with all my heart, my Holy Mother who has been slandered for more then a thousand years.

Boy, did you open a can of worms here!...but, bravo for doing so...I agree with every point you made...I have long believed that organized religion brings more tyranny and oppression with it than any king or much evil has been perpetrated in the name of one god or another....and in the last 2,000 years, Christianity has been at the top of the list...
Fear drives so many to religion for's too bad that so many have been duped by those who have convinced them that they know the mind of God better than others...there's so more to say...but, I won't...just rest assured that we are of like mind on this one....SS

No, I am not happy now.
I honestly missed the detail that you are the same person who replied in the begging. Sorry about that. Please believe me that was an honest mistake.

This post is not meant as an attack. It is a defense. After a life of ridicule because I am a “witch” I seek to present the simple truth. I am not crazy or evil. I am not trying to convert or attack the thousand years and more followers of the popular religion that has destroyed my religion.
VERITAS Voss Liberality
I am trying to present the truth…Blessed Be..DD

Against conservative believes women have found some progress toward equality, especially in the last 100yrs in western societies. After~2000yrs + of extreme suppression. It is my believe that this conservative bias comes from the religious foundation. It is my believe that change in conservative religions comes from the pressures outside.

The paradigm of Christian values began as an attack against the Priestess of Goddess based pagan religions. How different would are value of women’s contribution to our society be if women were seen as fundamental to our core religious believes. Contrast an exclusively male dominated religion to a basic religion that included both Gods and Goddess! We know from the writings of “ The Germany and the Agricola of Tacitus” by the roman Officer Tacitus and The Venerable Bede, (672-735 CE.), the accounts of the warrior Queen Boudica and the Etymology of Old English (44 9-1066AD) that the women of PRE-Christen Europe enjoyed a far greater status then the status of the vast majority of women today….DD

I think you are focusing on the wrong Christianity. There are many many peachers, churches, dogmas that demean women. I was taught in early years that Mary Magdalene was a ***** who followed Jesus and his disciples around. I read the Bible from "In the beginning" to "Amen" and never found mention of her being a *****. She was branded a ***** by the church sometime in the middle ages. I was also taught that sex was "Dirty" and just something for making children.
Veritas Vos Liberabit means the truth shall set you free. That was in the Latin Bilbe and a direct quote from Jesus. Don't be fooled by church dogma. Learn the truth - it will set you free. There is great truth and love in the Bible but it has been perverted by many for their own agendas. God bless you. Seek the truth.

I hope you can see the progress that's been made in the west concerning the status of women. In the past men maintained a patriarchal society for as long as they could get away with it, or for as long as their collective consciences would allow them. We have come a long way, baby (lol) Remember the old Virginia Slims commercial?

“Then you would really hate islam!"… How long would I last if this was Iran? About as long as I would last in Western Europe during the Inquisition once it spread beyond the Catholics themselves.

The main point is the political power that I am concerned about. I do not care so much what Paul wrote or that Mary was degraded to the status of a prostituted.

I am very concern about the POLITICAL influence Christen and Islam has on the lives of non believers.

For the record, I do care about the degrading in status of Mary. I care more about the degrading of status of all women.

Paul wrote some different things.
Galations 3-28 almost contradictory
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. "

Oh yeah, life under Sharia law, wouldn't that be a lark. Religion would be great if it wasn't for all the people

Then you would really hate islam!

Thank you for pointing out my spelling error sunstone. I feel however, that you have missed seeing the forest while focused on a leaf. Please note that my concerns about Christens are more on the POLITICS of organized Christens. I said I could “…live and let live…” if Christens were not so self righteous…

Sunstone I am fine with your faith. Can you hear me? I think Christian believes were not that different from my own for the first three hundred years. Political men corrupted YOUR religion. They threw out parts of YOUR bible that supported the role of women in YOUR religion. I just wish that these problems were of your concern and the rest of us could be left alone. I wish.
