I Donate Blood
I started donating last year and already I'm wondering how long I'll be able to do it. Last week I donated and the blood pressure reading was almost over the acceptable limit.
I do a lot of walking, to get from point A to point B, but I need to get active and do some other things too. I try to limit the amount of salt in my diet. I'm not hugely overweight. I could lose some weight - and have been. The last 3 months (work placement) probably didn't help; the days were so long that I came home feeling too exhausted to worry about preparing a healthy meal.
That's been over for 3 weeks now, but I'm still feeling lethargic.
I think part of it (the lethargy) is that I poured a lot of myself into doing the work as well as I possibly could, and I shouldn't feel bad that I didn't continue to work there, but there's a little part of me that thinks I failed in some way.
Edit: ----------------------------------
I saw a doc and now am on blood pressure medication. Initially, there were some unexplained bumps - some itchy, some not - all over my body, but that seems to have calmed down now.
I gave blood a couple of weeks ago and I seem fine.
Update: ----------------------------
I visited the Red Cross blood donor centre last week and they finally decided that they weren't going to get any more blood from me without extensive bruising. I was prepared to put up with the discomfort, but they weren't willing to inflict it, so I'm no longer able to donate blood :-p
I'll have to find some other way to contribute.
