As Often As Possible"If there's anything I can do to help, let me know." Is what people would say when they heard about the accident.
"Yes," I'd reply, "please give blood."
I don't know how many of them actually did.
I donate as often as possible. It's slightly depressing to know that one of my family members needed over 300 pints so no matter how much I give, I'll never replace that. However, without people like us, he and many, many others would not be alive today.
I have to say that, while I understand that some people are afraid of donating, you never know what's going to happen and one day you may need a transfusion. Doesn't it seem a bit selfish that people are not willing to give, but certainly willing to receive? Obviously there are those who can't give blood for whatever reason and that's fair enough. Anyway, who am I to judge? I'm just happy knowing that there are people who are able and willing.
Last time I donated, the lady stuck the needle in the wrong place, that was painful, but normally I hardly feel a thing. Plus I very much appreciate the free cookies afterwards!
