As the years tick by in my now 12 year marriage. I have never doubted the "power" of love more than now. I feel that the feelings that we get when we are in a new relationship are more akin to infatuation and sexual attraction. It's more of a mating instinct than anything else. If you look at human emotions from a scientific perspective as if you are studying animals, it becomes more clear that we seek mates for procreation and sexual satisfaction. The concept of love and lifetime commitment are more of a cultural norm perpetuated by organized religion and society forcing their views on your personal life.
