I Am Not Religious, I Believe In Christ

In many people‘s minds, "to be religious" is synonymous with “to be right with God.”

For me though, religion has actually kept me from God. By serving a set of man made rules and traditions I became bitter towards God and confused about my place in the world.

For many people, religion may appear to be a good thing. It keeps their appearance up, and is usually connected with tradition.

While some religion may appear good on the outside however, it is not beneficial in the long run.

Religion is about man’s search for God, rather then God’s search for man.

Religions are based on the idea of man gaining God’s favor through man’s ideas,
rather then man gaining God’s favor through God’s idea

We are not saved though our works. Only through God’s work. After all, it is God who created us and set the standard -not us.

It seems rather arrogant to claim that you have the power to forgive your own sin, but that is in essence what religion does. It takes a problem that can only be solved by God, and gives the power to man to fix it.

Just because someone thinks and believes something however, doesn’t make it true.

Christianity, believe it or not, at it’s core is not a religion.

Through the years there have been many deceptions and religions built under the guise of “Christianity.” These religions are not what Christ intended for us to have, however.

Christ came to show us that the only way to God, is well….quite simply through God. Not through religion, not through world peace, and not through yourself.

God could not come closer to His creation then He did through Christ. He did not have to come to show us the way. He came and died for us because He loves us. There could be no other reason.

Christian means “Follower of Christ.” That is what I am, and I don’t need a side dish of religion to go along with that.

I now know that God isn’t interested in people’s “good deeds.” He isn’t a cosmic Genie who wants to grant wishes, and His goal for life is not to make sure every pagan is in church on Sunday. He isn’t what religious people think He is. All He wants from us is our faith and love. Knowing this has made me much freer then I have ever been before.

Separation of church and God is important.

It isn’t logical that Christians made up Christ to make themselves feel better. The belief in Christ initially causes sadness, because it addresses the reality of your sin. It doesn’t produce happiness initially!

People, who are wrong and live according to their own standards, rarely view themselves as wrong.

Keep that in mind on your quest for truth.

“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.”

There are many reasons to reject God. There is only one reason to accept Him, however.

What is that reason?

That reason is: because it is the truth.

Belief in the true God and Savior is the highest feat that man can obtain.

Belief in God is the ultimate truth.

A true Christian has no other motive for their beliefs other then the pursuit of truth.

Awesome! Nicely said Stormy!

Thanks for your comment. I wish that people could understand the basic truth that is found through Christ.

It's not about being chained to a set of religious rules -it's about the amazing freedom that comes from allowing something much greater then us, to become a part of our lives.

The freedom that’s found in God is far greater then anything that is found in the shallowness of this world.

I like your thoughts. I share them (that doesn't make us a religion). To me God is pure, complete, unchanging Goodness. We already know about God all we need to do is release our internal barriers.
I don't oppose religions, I just don't believe they add anything to our experiences. They are simply political organizations that further the interests of their leaders.
They are not good or bad they just exist.
But, God is pure Goodness and always available to all of us. Jesus was a messenger that pointed the way to Goodness.

Good point. The word of God is the one thing that does need to be made known to everyone. I agree with you!

Religion has been good in the past, in that it did help spread the word, but it also carries more connotations then are needed!

Now days people have made religion into their ‘god’ and serve it and its implications, rather then the simple truth of God.

There is one need for religion though, to spread the words. Without Catholicism you would have never know of Christ. What would a world where you couldn't hear the truth be like? If you do not accept "the basic principles of this world" in your pursuit of truth you are denying original sin. God placed us here to show us that we still have a chance to save ourselves, through his graciousness.

I don't mind having imaginaries as enemies.

But I guess everyone has to make their own choice...

YEAH BUT WHY CHOOSE.... GOD KRISNA,ALLAH ,SATAN WHY MAKE UNNECCESARY ENEMIES........MAYBE GOD IS NOT SUCH A MAJOR Pla<x>yer IN HEAVEN MAYBE HE JUST HAD THE BEST PUBLICIST.

Aren't we all?

WELL YOUR EITHER RIGHT OR WRONG.

Well since God created it, I would think that it would be under His control. He is the one who decides who and how. Right?

WELL IF IT ACTUALLY EXISTS IN SPACE , TIME AND REALITY IT HAS TO BE POSSIBLE TO GET THERE.

you think?

HOW ABOUT A BIG SPACE SHIP

Only God can get us to heaven. :)

Not OUR ideas (aka religion).

YEAH BUT ALL THATS GONNA GET US TO HEAVEN SOONER.....GOD/GODS GOT A PLAN.

I believe you can. Especially when you consider that religions are responsible for much of the problems today.....

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH RELIGIONS.

No more religions please!!! Disorganized or otherwise!

Thank you!

DISORGANISED RELIGION?....DONT WE HAVE THAT ALL READY. ......TAMMY FAYE BAKER WHERE ARE YOU WE NEED YOUR GUIDANCE.

I would start one.... but I'm not religious.

:)

What about starting a disorganized religion?
