Don't get me wrong, I still like Christmas time. Not a lot, I hate cold, snow, the commercialization of Christmas. But why do we continue to celebrate it as Christ's birthday when it is quite obvious it is not. Not even close. Let us assume for arguments sake a child named Jesus was born 2000 years ago in Bethlehem as the New Testament claims. It was no later than the middle of October. Do people think Christ in heaven is looking down on us reviling in his birth celibration nearly two and a half months after the fact? According to the Bible Christmas is a lie. In Reality Christmas is a celebration of the Pagan sun God. Born on December 25 th. The date the days start getting longer after the December 22 solstice. The tradition of Christmas trees, ornaments, caroling, mistletoe. All of it stolen from Pagan traditions. As I understand it, Christ would not approve of us celebrating our own birthdays, let alone his. The Pope gives a Christmas mass. He is a big time sinner. The celibration of December 25th goes back many thousands of years before the birth of Christ. I still celebrate it, but as the Pagan tradition of the promise of Spring. And I still sing and enjoy Christmas carols as they are beautiful songs. I believe in Santa Clause, cause I know where he lives. He and all he stands for lives in my heart. I believe in peace on Earth, goodwill towards all of the Earth's creachers. I wonder. Are we, as the most prolific species to ever dominate the planet. The only species to ever think, with the ability to reason and not only understand the world around us, But to even want to. Are we so backwards to believe we cannot achieve peace and love without divine intervention? So lets think for a minute. Lets say there is a God. What does he want from us? Worship? Praise for a job well done? From the beginning, he didn't do that great a job. He gives us free will only to say if you don't use it to do my bidding you are to be punished. I'm not saying there is no God. I'm saying there are no answers. But some day you, and I will know the truth. And who will be punished? I who only question the books of ancient men? Or you who follow the lies told by all the world's religious leaders?

...a quote I came upon not long ago that I thought you would appreciate:

“If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is an intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time.”

― Bertrand Russell

Man is the control freak ..........................Then their is man and a church.....more control.
We each are our own church/temple ......
The teaching of Jesus Christ ....."To love one another"
The teaching is very simple, yet has been hi-jacked control and bring in FEAR...
So peace to you......and may you find your own inner CHRIST ...

If there indeed was a man named Jesus who was teacher, Rabi, and mentor. Then he was truly a wise, intelligent man. If not. Someone wrote down as a ghost writer about a fictional man who was just as wise. The words are good. Does it matter if he lived or not? It is the churches I have no faith in.

Me too........I love God with no Church chains ....

Thanks so much for your post. I'm in total agreement with you. Religion is in the control business. It carries out it's agenda via a system of rewards and punishments, controlling its followers with fear. It's the greatest trick ever played on mankind; instilling and supporting the practices of blind submission and obedience and authority for the purpose of social control MASQUERADING as saving your soul.
What a scam!

I like the older ones better. Buddha maybe. But what I really want is a new religion. One that says. " stop it. Your peeing me off "

How about the religion of simply being that which one is in essence? We have all the programming within us. It's standard equipment. People know instinctively who they are and how to behave in ways which allow all positive motion forward. We have the means of doing - that is, without all the imposed, indoctrination of organized religion in the way.

THAT'S IT. by jove I think you've got it.

That would be an indication you've got it, as well.
