The Trouble With Love

You can never, ever be certain that a person loves you unconditionally. You can never truly know the contents of someone's heart.

You could be in a wonderful relationship with the person of your dreams. You share everything, know all about each other's life story, likes and dislikes, hopes and dreams, secrets and fears. The bliss may last a long time, but beware! Without warning, something can happen to make the love dissolve.

Perhaps they meet someone else, or your looks begin to change as you age. Maybe you have a disagreement that is never resolved, or jealousy and suspicion set in. It could be that they begin, for no obvious reason, to see you or the world differently. These, or any number of other issues can change everything.

You suddenly realize that the love was never what you took it to be, and the bond between you was never as strong. But by then, of course, it's too late because your heart is already broken.

the only unconditional love is that of a mother towards her child

I am sorry. I always say that as we age we definitely change in so many ways and the way to keep love alive is to be honest with one another and try to keep pace with one another as the changes happen. But that is not easy to do. Not at all.<br />
I am sorry.

Why are you sorry?

There was something about a broken heart.
