    As a corollary to it, respect my rights and I will respect yours. Unfortunately, the LGBT community (anecdotal evidence, my facebook page, yada yada yada) has sided with people who are going after rights I hold dear. At this point, the best my friends can get out of me is my remaining silent on their issues instead of siding with people who are going after their rights.

    I couldn't agree more. Equally don't push your gayness, straightness, blackness, whiteness, in my face - just be you and if I need to judge it will be judging you for who you are a nice person or a nasty one.
