I'll Stay Alert, Thanks.

I would never do drugs of any sort. I stay away from everything, alcohol, nicotine, hard drugs, even caffeine. Yeah, I guess caffeine is taking it a bit far, but I don't like the fact that drugs alter your perception.

I understand that sometimes you need to escape life, and that people may turn to drugs, but I think there are better ways to go.
To be honest, I have immense respect for the AA members who show up at our church every Thursday, because they choose to do something.

I've seen how short and fragile life is... My boyfriend's mother died last year in October... and I want to be sober for every moment I have. We only get so much time, and I want to make the best of mine...
More importantly, I want to be there for my friends. I can't do that if I'm too high to realize they need me.

My life is about my responsibility to others. I won't sabotage my future. I've realized there's so much in the world to live for, and a few moments of escape from stress (doesn't knowing that you're killing yourself stress you out...?) isn't worth it.

Very well said. As I was reading your story I realized that I was wearing my D.A.R.E. to resist drugs and violence shirt. Ha I guess I was dressed to read your story.
