I May Be a Hobo, But That's Just Gross

I have been homeless for most of my adult life.

I have gone for whole years with no income.

I have not bought food this year apart from milk powder,

and a jar of cheap coffee, that tastes like vinegar.

Still, I have never eaten food off the pavement.

One thing I did used to pick up off the pavement:

When I was 13, I used to pick up cig butts in the city centre,

and re-roll them in fresh cig papers to make new hand-rolled cigs

to sell to the other children! *lol*

Still, never ate off the street. Not out of street bins either.

Skips (dumpsters) are a great source of free food,

so I would never be tempted to eat discarded food off the pavement.

I eat a lot of wild fruit and apples from trees in peoples gardens,

if the fruit is going to be wasted otherwise.

Apples last for several months in the right conditions;

I still have a few decent ones from last autumn.

Fishing is a great fun way to get food,

esecially if you know there is a skip nearby,

so you needn't worry about whether you even succeed.

So I do not advise anyone to eat food of the street. :(

Use your ingenuity, your imagination, and your skill. :)
