    I like the gesture of it. If I don't want you to hold the door for me then I will walk in front of you but I think it is the polite thing to do.

    I get strange looks when I hold the door open for women here in California but I still feel it's the proper thing to do. It's unfortunate that basic manners have become an oddity these days.

    I hold the door for men if they have their hands full or if it is raining and such.

    Spoiled? LOL, I don't know about that, but again I'm European and like to stand by my nickname.

    I hold the door for anyone if I'm not in a hurry. I've had surprised looks when I do that in the US but it's nice for me not to forget how I've been raised.
