he people who look at you and say you wanna do what, or do you honestly think you'll get there? the professionals mandated to help that put every obstacle in your way by virtue of their on ignorance and apathy. The ones who can give you every reason not to head strait for reaching your dream bit to get a real job or do it this way.
Or worse tell you you have to do it another way because someone else f*cked up not you, who tell you in light of another's mistakes reaching your career goals may take a little longer, tell you you have to lower your standards your expectations
The ones who somehow thing your dream is too lofty that you have no right to have it, that slaving away at some dead end or soul killing job for years is now and for ever a due right of passage no matter how many it kills, no matter how much it steals form persons, from the world, no matter how many ideas are lost no matter what it does to the world
Never mind the messages it teaches that their is no point in going strait, doing good, staying in school, that your only fate is a J O B not a career, not a dream not a chance don't even try !

Feeling inventive | Posted Jun 5th, 2008 at 4:46AM It is hard, especially when they are family and you can't isolate yourself from them. Once you've achieved something they say you can't, you have proved them wrong, and they may just change their ways. Try to turn it against them by using their negativity as motivation for you. They say "you can't", all the more reason for you to do. |
