I love you

I think I've said I love you more to my dog than to any one human being. The most people I say it to are my parents. Other than that, grandparents. I've never said it to any lady love I've had. Not because I didn't care for them, but I'm not going to say it to just anyone. People say these three words too easily, often without meaning, it, often as a reflex. I'm not going to be the guy who says it to get in your pants. I'm not going to be the guy who says it because you do, and I don't know how to respond. That may sting a little, but I'm simply not going to lie about it, even if it hurts at first. I'm not going to be the guy who, when I do feel it, says it every 5 seconds, or as a reflex.

I'm going to say it because I actually have a feeling of love for you. I feel it's used too often and too callously, too casually. These words should be special. They should have more weight, more gravity than other feelings of affection and attachment that we show each other. When I say it, you'll know that I mean it. It's amazing, that three simple words could hold so much meaning, could have so much semblance behind them. I've never been in love with a woman. To only know the kind of emotions that go along with romantic love, I can only imagine. I'm not afraid to love someone. No, it's the opposite, I can't wait to fall in love, as irrational, absurd, and painful it may be; I'm just waiting for the right one to come along.
