It Changed My Life

For the first 12 years of my career I worked in a huge office with a lot of people and A LOT of office politics. And, of course in that environment you get a fair amount of fools, many in positions higher than your own. And most  of these idiots got to where they were not because they were good at their jobs but rather because they sucked up and played political games.

I have never liked authority figures anyway, ever since I was a kid. Back then I hated adults in general and teachers, principals and others in charge of my life in particular. So you can imagine how I suffered under the fools who ran my life in the office back when I was in my 20's.

Needless to say, after some years I couldn't take it any more. The anger and unhappiness I felt was more than the stress and uncertainty of quitting and starting my own business. And that's exactly what I did.

And today that business is very succesful but more important I am my own boss and the freedom from having to suffer fools has been worth all the time and effort it took to get my business up and running.

Not being able to suffer fools gladly can be an incredible motivator in life.
