Now, Really....

Okay. First of all, hardly anyone rates my stuff, and that's fine with me. I prefer comments to ratings. But when they DO rate, what exactly are they rating? My grammar? The quality of my story?

I shared something particularly personal that I don't really like to talk about, and someone rated it a 4/5. Not that that's a bad rating, but why not 5/5? I don't like being rated on my personal secrets that I deign to share with EP, and if I AM going to be rated, then leave a darn comment.

I agree with you completely here. I dont understand why someone needs to rate someone elses personal experiences. it seems to me like it might make people less likely to share things because they're afraid of being rated poorly which kind of defeats the whole purpose of this site.

I was going to rate and not leave a comment, but then I figured that would mean I had successfully achieved my goal of irritating you ;) I just rate on gut feeling really, there's nothing sophisticated about my use of the rating system. :) So I gave this one a 4, because it didn't make me feel like giving it a 5 :P Sometimes I rate INSTEAD of leaving a comment, when I can't think of anything sensible to say. *shrug* (Also, QuiteMecurial, there IS a collection of highest rating stories! :D Click on the "stories home" from the menu bar up the top to see it).
