refused pictures taken of me during the worst stages of my anorexia for two reasons, one was that each picture of my body sent me into a depressive state and secondly, due to the bald patches.
I lost my hair gradually at the start. I put it down to the normal losing of so many hairs a day, and then a change in weather, blamed the shampoo, and of course everything but the anorexia. I then was unable to brush my hair as it would just come out in clumps. No matter how much I washed and conditioned it, it would remain dull, lifeless and dry.
I looked awful, my hair looked awful as it was in patches. I still have that fear of it coming out again now that it already has once. I think too what brings it more home is that a friend of mine developed alopecia one month after her wedding.
My hair has grown back now, my hair is thicker and now I have dyed it black to make it shine better as have not bene used to that for a while.

  | Posted Dec 17th, 2008 at 10:31PM I have no idea what alopecia is but I am very happy that you got your hair back. Be good to yourself from now on :) All women should have long gorgeous hair in my opinion.   |
