No Big Deal, Really.

It was New Year's Eve of my junior year in high school and my family had been invited to a party at a classmate's house.  As with most parties that mix grown-ups and teenagers, the two age groups stayed pretty much separate.

The younger group was mostly 16-18 years old, with a couple over 21.  Gee what a shock, everyone was drinking, regardless of age.  (I feel bad for my hostess-- one of the 18-year-olds got trashed and puked all over the place.  As he was her friend, SHE had to clean up!)

Anyway, so long as my parents stuck around, my friend was reluctant to give me booze.  But they left early, and my friend poured me a drink.

All things considered, it was no big deal.  Even with no experience whatsoever, a single drink isn't going to do much more than buzz a person.  Over the couple hours remaining 'till midnight I had maybe two drinks.  I remember feeling more relaxed and at ease with a little booze inside of me, but that was all.

Like I said, no big deal.
