I just read this today on the AP news wire. It made me really sad and wonder what is happening to this world.

FLORENCE, South Carolina (AP) -- Federal authorities say a South Carolina teen accused of plotting to blow up his high school told police that he wanted to die, go to heaven and kill Jesus.

A dark portrait of Ryan Schallenberger emerged Tuesday in a federal courtroom. Prosecutors are arguing that the teen needs a psychological evaluation.

An ATF agent says Schallenberger told a sheriff about his wish to die after his arrest.

Prosecutors also played a 911 tape of the teen's mother calling police after he smashed his head into a wall.

She says on the tape her son threatened to shoot police if they were called to his home.

Authorities say the teen bought materials to make several bombs and had written a journal detailing his plans to attack Chesterfield High School.

I agree Marcus, but I also think we should be made aware of these kind of situations. They do seem to be happening more and more as of late.

I agree we should recognize the achievers also.
Bur you as well as I know that good news is not news in the media today

Mello: I don't think so.

We have to remind ourselves that for every child like this, there are thousands, if not millions more who DON'T think of this, don't operate that way, and, in fact, would put themselves in front of kids like this to save their brothers and sisters.

And yes, I'm completely serious.

We need to look more at the GOOD kids rather than reward the bad ones with klieg lights and a CNN special...

It make you wonder how many extreme cases we have out there in the world. I fear we are going to see a lot more of this type of thing. The world is becoming a scary place to live.

I always find myself asking why? What happened to this kid to make him think this way? Had anyone bothered to get him some help? Certainly there had been signs. Did his parents turn him in because they too feared him?

I would like to say good on the parents for alerting the authorities. They could have turned a blind eye, and a lot of times parents don't want to believe that their child is capable of something like this. This kids parents saved a lot of lives by taking the initiative to alert someone of their child's behavior.

This kid obviously has some issues. People and especially the parents had to know something was going on with this kid. To actually say he wants to go to heaven and kill Jesus shown that he is completely off his rocker.
His mother saved many lives. I truly feel for the parents. My heart goes out to them this has to be a terrible time for them.
