A Pint of Plain Is Yer Only Man

"A pint of plain is yer only man" - Flann O'Brien, Ireland's greatest writer.

2009 is the 250th anniversary of Guinness. Like wines, if you want to sample the authentic flavour then you must visit Ireland, especially parts west.

A creamy head of Guinness (at about room temperature) served in a quiet pub on the Atlantic coast while having a dozen oysters is something to be experienced.

Guinness has a wonderful flavor I agree with you about that. I prefer the oysters to mussells. Seared garlic sea scallops are truley the best though. The only problem I tend to have with Guinness is it is a thicker beer. I am accustom to American beer and it is thinner in consistency. I also agree with seekingdom~cheese and crusty bread!! I love being Irish!!!

Ok but mussles in garlic or crab claws are a nice alternative!
