I Drove Drunk
I haven't been so stupid in many, many years but one time I was MC at a party and so got so busy I didn't get anything to eat so I finally had a few scotch neat and got mad afterwards and drove off. I got on the freeway but was having a lot of trouble staying on a 3 lane freeway in one direction so I thought I was going to fast and was surprised when I looked at the speedometer to see I was going 40! I realized I was too drunk to drive so I turned around and went back to the party and drank coffee until I was sober enough to drive home. I didn't have a drink for several years after that. In the last 10 years I've had maybe a couple of glasses of wine altogether. It's not like I don't want to drink but I realize that I may become irresponsible and don't want to hurt someone else or myself so I chose not to drink unless I don't have to drive and can sleep it off.
