Omg...I thought I was like the only person that was addicted to starch. Where do I start, well I start eating starch w when I was 19 and now I'm 32. For the last 4 yrs I've been stopping n going with the eating of starch. Like everyone on here I have tried them all but really live Argo I really eat it when I'm stress or angry it helps me to relax n it's just so enjoyable. The bad thing about eating it is that I've gained weight only in my stomach n now noticing my teeth are turning a yellowish color and I do brush twice a day. I really would like to completely stop but can't. I have no insurance so I can't go to clinic to get checked out for PICA. Do anyone have any other suggestions?

i eat a box of cornstarch in a week im going to stop because it makes me feel horrible smh

Hi Robin0622, I'm glad you posted. The first thing is to talk about it. I ate starch for 20 years. I have not eaten any for 2 years now. The last year of this addiction, I changed from eating cornstarch (argo) to eating Kuzu root starch. Now even though it is still starch and it was more expensive, I found myself eating less and less. It was only 9 oz per bag at $8.00 per bag at a whole food store. I eventually stopped all together. I don't know if this will work for all, but after 20 years, I was willing to try something. The Kuzu, didn't give me that over drowsy feeling as with cornstarch. I had PICA, so I understand how you feel. I felt hopeless after eating for so many years. I began to talk about my addiction, which made it less of a secret and that also helped encouraged me to quit. Also, brush your teeth with baking soda. I ate starch for years, and gratefully, I don't have anything wrong with my teeth. I did have my wisdom teeth removed. Talk about it more, and try alternatives would be my advise. Praying for you.
