I Enjoy Reading Work By This Writer
Colin Wilson is the teacher I wished I’d had. No other writer has opened up my world as much. I owe him.
These days he’s mostly known for his enormous reviews of the Occult and various other fascinating but hokey books about ghosts and ghoulies. Wilson’s interests are enormous, he has something to say about just about everything. He melds completely inappropriate and often contradictory concepts and forges stimulating debates. In the late 50s and 60s he wrote a series of books that combined literary criticism and existentialist philosophy. ‘The Outsider’ and ‘Religion and The Rebel’ summarise the work and thoughts of almost every writer, mystic, or philosopher who is 'worth a read'. There are weird histories, many eccentrics, and some exhilaratingly odd ideas out there.
These days, armed with a copy of ‘The Outsider’ and googlesearch, a thinking person has no excuse not to find out.
Recommended: The Outsider, Religion and the Rebel, The Origin of the Sexual Impulse, The New Assassins... he writes a lot.
