Waiting For More Romance

When I first started dating my boyfriend, I asked him if he was romantic. He said, "yes, very." I thought finally! A romantic man. But you know what? He hasn't been as romantic as I thought he'd be. During our third week of dating, he set up a romantic dinner for him and I. With a few flowers, a candle and some nice music. It was wonderful. He told me that's the kind of thing he does for a lady. I thought cool, I get to expect more of this type of stuff. Well, it's been 5 months and I haven't really noticed anything as romantic. Once he brought me a dozen roses which was nice. And I do receive text messages almost everyday to say good morning or goodnight. Other than that, I'm still waiting for more romance. I try to be romantic with him so he can get the hint to do something back, but he hasn't. How else can I get him to be romantic without me having to ask him? I don't think I can enjoy something knowing he did it because I asked him and not because he really wanted to. Am I expecting too much romance?
