My 14 Year Old DaughterOK, so I told you a little about me, now I would like to introduce you to my 14 year old Daughter, Pam. After I found out that my daughter was a smoker, I invited her to have a cigarette with me. She had told me she had only smoked a couple of months, but when I saw her take a long drag on her VS-120 Menthol and then pull the smoke into her lungs with not as much as a flinch, I knew she had been smoking much longer than 2 months. Upon further questioning, I learned she had been smoking "regularly" for 2 months, but had smoking for over a year. It was like looking into a mirror as her smoking style was just like mine. As we talked, she paused just long enough to take another inhale and then immediately began talking again, exhaling smoke as she spoke. She said she noticed how relaxed I was when I smoked and how I papered to enjoy smoking and wanted to see what it was like. She did not at all enjoy her first cigarette, but after about a week, she tried again. This time she just allowed the smoke to remain in her mouth, instead of trying to inhale, as he had seen me do. She said she felt a little more relaxed after the second time, so the next day had another cigarette, again not inhaling. after several days of smoking without inhaling, she put just a small amount of smoke into her mouth and tried to inhale that. She said it was a little uncomfortable, but not as bad as her first experience. Each day she put a little more smoke in her mouth and inhaled it. After about 2 weeks, she found herself wanting to experiment twice a day. Then after a month it was 3 time a day and by now she was inhaling a full mouth full of smoke. She said after about 3 months she discovered by hold the smoke in her lungs for longer she got a more relaxed "happy" feeling. I had to laugh when she explained it that way !
Now, her daily "routine" on school days involves smoking a cigarette when she first wakes up. a 2nd one with breakfast, a 3rd before heading to the bus, then a 4th one between 2nd and 3rd period, as she (and she said about 20 other kids) slip into a wooded area just off the school property. during lunch she again goes off school property and smokes her 5th, 6th and 7th, in a chain fashion, lighting one off the last coals of the prior one. Right after school, as soon as she gets into the house, she lights up hr 8th. Between the time she arrives home and dinner she smokes 3 or 4 more. After dinner she smoke another and then between dinner and bed time she usually smokes 4 more, which typically brings her daily total to around 16 or 17. When stressed, like just before a big test, and on the weekends she will knock off a full pack and sometime even smoke 1 or 2 from a second pack, in one day.
I asked if she ever considered stopping and she told me she never really thought about it and then asked me if I ever considered quitting. I told her I smoke because I enjoy to and as long as I enjoyed it, I did not plan to quit. She said she enjoyed it also.
