Why Paper Is Less Intimidating Than People
The ink on a sheet of eight by ten college ruled paper
Is the exact same color as the blue-eyed girls
Who always seemed to have it all together.
And the fringes left over from tearing a sheet
Out of a spiral-bound notebook.
Reminds me of that two year period where
“in your face bangs” were the height of fashion.
The pristine blankness of a sheet of paper
Seems comparable to the blank stares
Young women spend years learning to master. . .
But at the end of the day, it’s just an empty
Piece of paper.
