I Have My License Now, ButI just wanted to share my story about the first time I took the road test and failed.
First, I was just nervous about the test anyway, and not familiar with the area. Second, I got even more nervous when the woman snapped at me for not knowing where a street was.
But the real kicker was the end of the test. I was at an intersection and had to turn left to get back to the DMV. There was no sign saying "Left turn yield" but I was pretty sure I was supposed to yield. When the light turned green, I waited to see if the cars coming from the other direction were going to go. They didn't start right away, so I took my foot off the brake for a second, and probably moved forward about a foot, but not all the way out into the intersection. Then the cars from the other side did start going, so I put my foot back on the brake and waited.
When we got back to the DMV, and the woman told me I failed because:
1. I was driving too slow (because I wasn't familiar with the streets in the area and didn't want to miss a street I was supposed to turn on to)
2. the incident at the intersection. I swear to you, her exact words were "if you hadn't looked, you would have driven into oncoming traffic." (umm hello, I didn't drive into oncoming traffic because I was looking and paying attention)
That really upset me because it wasn't like I actually went all the way out into the intersection, and I was nowhere close to getting into an accident. Also, I think there should be a sign saying left turn yield, so people don't have to try to guess.
