I Feel Awkward On the Phone

I always feel awkward on the phone, especially when I'm the one making the call. First, I'm paranoid that I'm calling at the wrong time and bothering the other person. Then I stumble over my words when I try to get to my point. And the lack of facial expressions and body language really hurts my ability to communicate effectively. I'm generally not bad with words, but when I'm on the phone I just tend to forget how to speak.

It's weird though because I don't feel nearly as awkward chatting online. And then there aren't even audible cues to help me figure out the tone of the conversation. I guess I'm just weird.

    I feel the same. When you chat online, you can take the time to work out what you want to say. On the phone you can't do that, you have to think on the spot.

    I feel like I bother people when I call them first so I'm right there with you on that. I also get tongue tied on the phone and even in person, lol.
