I Feel Like a Mad Scientist
My grandmother is like a small child and will not take her medications easily. As one of the persons that takes care of her I have to ensure that she takes the right dosage and at the correct time. I have the alarms on my cell phone all set to remind me when different things have to happen throughout the day, along with an old digital reminder to remind me of the ones that exceed my phone's capabilities. I am sooooooo tired of having to fight with her over medication so I have started crushing the ones that can be crushed and feeding them to her in apple sauce or pudding, sprinkling them on top of her eggs like salt (she can't taste well.), and I have even given her some in a Diet Sprite one day when I couldn't find apple sauce or pudding in the house. My mom has started calling me "the weird scientist because of my creativity. She now gets the meds she needs and I only have to fight with her about 3 pills a day because they can't b be crushed or have to be taken without food.
FYI: I didn't just start doing this on my own. I asked her medical professional if it would be okay, and checked with the pharmacist as well because I would never want to hurt my grandmother.
