I Don't Belong Here

I've lived in a dinky pathetic little town in southern Missouri all my life. I go to a tiny speck of a school filled with homophobic racist rednecks who reject anyone who is slightly different.

I am rejected.

I'm the mistake puzzle piece that has gotten shuffled into the wrong jigsaw puzzle. Everyone else seems to slide perfectly in place but I don't fit anywhere.

I realize I'm not meant to be here. There's a reason I don't mesh with them. It's because I'm not one of them.

But maybe somewhere out there I can find my them. Maybe I can belong. Someday.

“There are no extra pieces in the universe. Everyone is here because he or she has a place to fill, and every piece must fit itself into the big jigsaw puzzle.” ~ Deepak Chopra

Mmhm I quite like that quote. Reading that just made my day. Thank you. :)
