I Feel That Something Is Missing From My Life
"We all feel longing in our hearts, but we often block it through our defensive patterns. If we allow it to grow, however, longing creates the channel thorugh which we can allow ourselves to be inspired. The longing grows from within and inspiration comes from without. These two elements operate together cyclically to intensify one another. As longing grows, te person searches out and finds inspirational experiences; as such experiences occur, the sense of longing increases. this is a common process in spiritual practice" Caroline Brazier- Buddhist Psychology
We are therefore enriched through a sense of feeling that something is missing. Whilst we mistake this often as being a void, perhaps it is better to acknowledge that it is the seed of our motivation - it is what pushes us in the right direction in regards to where we should be in life or indeed the journey we are undertaking.
We all exist as jigsaw pieces within the universe- we all have our place here, there is a plan for our lives that we cannot understand as cannot see the bigger picture until all the pieces fit together and within each life or jigsaw piece, there are countless others which have to be moved together. As in an ordinary jigsaw puzzle (sorry I seem to keep clinging to the metaphors of jigsaws and butterflies) it does not all come together in order, gaps remain, the picture is not created all at once, it is figured out, and the picture often does not materialise until the final few pieces are placed in their places.
Until then there are voids and we search for those jigsaw pieces that are missing and we know their presence through the void, the fact that they are missing, and that is what inspires us to continue.
