I kinda think this void is a search for the self.. but we mistakenly look outwards to find answers for ourselves.. the perfect relationship, the perfect career, the perfect activity, the perfect spiritual or religious ideas etc. But this doesn't work, doesn't ever fully satisfy, because it is merely a reflection we are looking at. Instead, we need to be looking within to find these answers, to discover what this 'self' is all about. All of our answers are there. It just takes a lot of digging and going deep to find what we are looking for.. through layers and layers of 'stuff' that get in our way. We need to ***** the soul bare to find the glorious, luminous light that is bursting to get out. That's what it feels like for me.. something inside that is just bursting at the seams to be released.. Our job is to find the key(s) to let it out ;)

I sometimes wonder if the void we're speaking about isn't a search for meaning? Could it be that we keep doing things and doing things without having a satisfying answer to the question "why?" I find myself most deeply satisfied when what I am doing explicitly links itself to my sense of purpose in life through which I try to guide my choice of actions, be they in relationships, work, everything - as much as possible.

Accepting that we are works in process, being inspired by the larger process, that is indeed key. Most of us have some things missing, aspects in chaos, unformed, disjointed. But breathe deep and look around you. Here we are, a part of the great cosmic dance unfolding. I think we can and should gain some inspiration from that. The Great Matrix of LIFE is bigger then we are, and always supports us. Try holding your breath for 60 seconds in denial of that...

Exactly.. it's too easy to get caught in that dark place. But it is possible to escape and stay on the side of excitement.. I tend to fluctuate back and forth between the two. I think the secret, though, is to find the middle ground between the two.. the middle path (MP taught me this, early on). If you fly too high, you get too close to the sun and may get burned. If you fly too low, you can end up in the drink (water), lol. I've gone for many dips into the drink, spiralling head first. It takes practice to get yourself back out and start flying again on a steady path.

I know what you mean about not following your own advice, lol.. sometimes it takes the same advice reflected back to us for it to really sink in. You do a good job of that, for me, it seems, lol.

I really like the jigsaw metaphor and use it all time, too..

"Whilst we mistake this often as being a void, perhaps it is better to acknowledge that it is the seed of our motivation - it is what pushes us in the right direction in regards to where we should be in life or indeed the journey we are undertaking."

This is a really great way of viewing it. It's sometimes difficult not to view it as a void.. but when viewed in this way (as the seed of motivation.. very good!), it ignites an excitement that keeps us blazing down the spiritual path. At least that's what it seems to do for me, lol.
