But, She's The Strongest Of Us All!

I went to an all girls Catholic high school. Those are stories for another time. All you need to know is that I came out of there with 5 best friends. 8 years later, I can honestly say they are more like sisters to me than friends.
On Monday, one of those friends, Nicole, told us all she had checked into the ER. She had been feeling short of breath and noticed an elevated heart rate. Since she is studying to be a Med Tech, and she works in a lab, she did her own blood test. She noticed that her cell counts were so low that she might need transfusions. When the doctors at the hospital originally saw her, they diagnosed her with severe aplastic anemia. That's a disease where your bone marrow fails to function, and you dont make any new blood cells. After a bone marrow biopsy, they determined that she has acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and she told us all yesterday.
All I can keep thinking is that she's the strongest person I know. She had her life all together, one more year of college then a job that she had already been offered. It's not fair. **** cancer.
