I was listening to the radio the other day when a piece came on about ear worms.
An ugly title for something that has been going on ever since I was a child. I remember walking around a department store embarrassing my father because I was singing along to the song they were playing. I can't say whether he was embarrassed by the fact that I was singing or it was the mumbling of wrong words before the chorus kicked in along with my louder vocal. It has never stopped. I will always singalong to my favorite songs whether I know the correct words or not. This act, it seems, makes me susceptible to ear worms.
It sounds worse than it is. An ear worm is just that part of a lyric or tune that pops in your head and just won't leave for a while. The only irritation is when you don't know what song it is from.
I can live with that!
