I Stopped Caring A While Ago

It seriously disturbs me how for several years they still let ****** stories go. But they make public comment that they will not allow it and remove it, but it's still there? And as for members they say are illegal, they are still there. This has nothing to do with real rules and following it. It has everything to do with public image.

For the past few weeks, I have avoided some of my own stories because of how I was harassed by a spamming solicitor. As it went on, he got more full of himself and really got under my skin. For weeks, I kept on doing what I was told I could do, notifying, messaging, ect. And all I got was a stupid general comment and the guy was still online! I felt really cornered because it was an extremely personal story he was being a jackass on. He didn't care about what I was going through and he sure as hell wanted to berate anyone else that crossed his superior path. The longer it went on, the more I realized EP would do nothing. They just left me to rot.

So, I hear stories about admins freezing other comment threads, deleting stories just because they didn't like the content even though it didn't break rules (they did that to an older story of mine years ago). I see all kinds of illegal and criminal activity going on and nope. Nothing. Some stories have been flagged for eons but are still around. It's not unless a huge mob of people start giving it so much attention that it goes viral until the admins go...gee...I guess we should actually do something about it.

I'm tired of it. I don't even bother with stories anymore. I think once it really got into a deep and vulnerable place in my heart over a long period of time and was shat on...without help from the admins...I really lost 100% trust in the system. You sat and did nothing for so long. It doesn't matter if after I write this story that you finally do something about it. You did nothing when it mattered. You wrote a stupid general comment and did nothing. I've watched you do it to others and fortunately I found out these people's lives improved outside of your website. For some, you do more harm than good. I've given up on the admins and just keeping to myself from this point on. You suck.

Thanks Marcus. I've been gone a while and I keep hoping it improves but I am still nervous to write stories for those reasons.

EP can be, has been, and will be manipulated by a few in order to influence many.

That part hasn't changed.

I think the part that saddens me most about EP is the level of ambient toxicity and mistrust that now exists where such things used to be much less common or prevalent.

I think it's harder now to be more open, particularly when there seem to be LESS and LESS things we can count on.

I agree with you, Tek, it's ridiculous that people don't see much action on stories that are just outright ridiculous and outrageous.

It seems there are plenty of resources to spend on making EP Facebook-compliant (excuse me, Facebook-compatible), rather than just making sure simple things run well.

The funny thing is, when I first joined up a few years back, it seemed like it was mostly EP volunteers trying to police the place, and it was just as bad then.

We just didn't look at it as much. We turned our head and just let it float on by...

Also, I think many of us just didn't know how bad it would get until people started to pretend to be people that they weren't.

Combined with a lack of vision and guarantees of anonymity and security, is it any wonder EP has transmogrified into a series of isolated islands of mish-mash friendship groups, scattered in the Net?

so it does take the efforts of more than one person to get something removed? i knew that but there are a few idiots on here that believe one person alone has the power to get something removed and have accused people of being a one person wrecking crew, out to destroy ep. i don' think cleaning up garbage will destroy ep by far.

I agree with all your comments. It's completely ridiculous.

From what I've seen it really does seem like gathering an angry mob is ONLY way to get it done. Then again, maybe that was always the only way it was ever done. Meh!

It's like they don't do anything until it gathers enough noise. Mainly because most of the crap we've asked them to change and do still hasn't been done. Oh but it's so cosmetically enhanced...like a woman who wants to legitimize her acting by botox. Ha ha ha, it is to laugh.

I asked everyone to join me in flagging a *********. I had some criticism , but he was gone the next day. I think it was because of the number of flags. When I find pedophiles I will tell everyone I can where it is so they can flag it. I think massive flagging does the trick.

these days the EP admin is kinda like the U.N. they are good at making threats...not so good at enforcing them

Well least we made our little blogging fortresses nice and comfy? Which it's nice because some days you share silly stuff and other days you share serious stuff and it's pretty cool that in our circles we about the same number of responses. It's like what they say about true friends. They love you when you are up or down, moody or silly. I at least believe that is very sincere even though the rest of this place is pretty generic.

I notice more and more its not until, like you say a lot of people get interested that action gets taken. I stopped with most of the personal stories quite a while back and stick those in blogs. I'd just rather not deal with the possibility of some of the crap that is out there. Same with confessions and Q&A. Its a rare day that I will venture there anymore. Its too bad its turned from its purpose of being a giant sharing community of support to one of many scattered villages with high walls.
