How Do I Know When Or How To Stop Shoplifting?

Have you ever felt that rush you experience when you know that your the only one who can do something other people would always want to do but never have the courage to do?

I know, as a general fact of society, that people will steal if they know that they can get away with it. People are materialistic, opportunist individuals that would rather take something then earn it.

Maybe there might be a few individuals, or anomalies, that would never do so even if they knew there was no repercussions.

But I'm not one of those individuals. I've stolen too much in my life and I'm not sure how to stop.

I feel that my stealing has gone too far. At first, I stole for myself. Then for my friend and now I steal for order. If you want something, obtainable, for a fraction of the retail price I'm the person people go to.

I've never been caught and I've been doing this since October 2011. I'm worried that this has gone too far but I'm not sure how, or even if, I can stop.

Those that have shoplifted for a while, how far into doing it did you get caught?

You're bound to get caught sooner or later. You know what you're doing is wrong so you better stop before you get caught

Being careless is the easiest way

I have been shoplifting for at least 4 years. It's started with small things just something like makeup or going through the self check and not scanning something. Sadly my addiction has increased. I was caught when I was in my early 20s because of greed. We had gotten away in one store but foolishly went in another store with the merchandise still on us and took something else. It was a horrible experience. I did stop for several years. Now I take anything I can shove in my purse. Groceries are a biggie. It's a serious addiction I can't stop. I want to but not at the expense of getting caught. I can't control it. I can be sitting at home thinking about what i can go to the store to steal and I imagine its the same feeling a junkie gets when they desire their drug. I don't care to shop at stores I can't steal from. I'm scared but it doesn't stop me.

Once you get caught you realize it's not worth the rush. I got caught today and I got off without any charges but I kind of lost my interest in it after going through hours of waiting and talking with police.

I started doing it and it was a rush, I was doing it for a few weeks until I got careless and was caught, otherwise I probably would have continued, it's still an urge I get but try really hard to suppress it cause I can't take the risk of getting caught again

Hope you stop. I know that you're too good to be shoplifting. :) Stay strong and get away from it!
