My Doctor Dumped Me

y husband and I lost our jobs in the spring. We made and appointment for the kids to see their doctor and in the process of losing our house and selling everything that we own missed the appt. We changed our address several times over the next 6 months as we tried to keep our heads above water and in the process did not recieve our mail for a time. The doctor had sent us a bill for 75 dollars for the missed appt. Even if we had received the bill we would not have had the money to pay it but we were blissfully unaware. I called today to make an appt for my son and he refused to see him saying I had been "termed" as a patient for not paying my bill. I offered to pay it as my husband has started working again but they said its to late. He has been my family's pediatrician for 10 years. In that whole time I never dreamed he would be so cold should I ever hit hard times. When we lost our jobs....everyone around us disappeared. It has destroyed my sense of trust. Everyone I thought was dependable and would be there for me scattered. Even the damn pediatrician! I'm disgusted.

 Feeling calm  | Posted Nov 3rd, 2009 at 6:52PM Hypocratic oath? sounds like just a plain oath to me. And doing this to a child? I guess he was counting on your money to help pay for his new Super SUV. Does HEARTLESS come to mind????????   |
 | Posted Nov 4th, 2009 at 7:43AM In my opinion that's all the docotrs are concerned about anymore is the money.The first thing your asked for now when you go to see one is your insurance.It is sad and frustrating that they don't bother to help you anymore and I don't think their oath means a thing these days. |
