I got it done the day after I posted this lmfao Yeh it was a ***** for the first week but its all good now :D

Pros and cons.

Eh, hows about cons first.

CONS:
* For the first week, you will NOT be able to eat solid food at all. Days 2-4 or thereabouts are the most difficult. But, if you can make it through this, life will be sweet again.

* Likewise talking will be extremely difficult, again, especially on days 2-4.

* Your tongue will be about 50% percent larger than normal for almost a week, thus the above. Additionally, your saliva production will be on overdrive.

* You'll have a foriegn ob<x>ject, the barbell, in your mouth 24/7 Do not take it out. Tongues can almost fully heal in less than one hour in some cases. The first bar you wear will be longer than normal, which will make talking and especially eating very difficult for a few weeks.

* You will have to learn how to chew food again. For the first few weeks, maybe a month, you will be chewing only with the side teeth, but you WILL, eventually be back to normal.

* Some workplaces and schools prohibit piercings, however you do have an option. You can use a clear or tongue coloured retainer, but not until the piercer allows you to downsize to a normal size barbell. (My workplace prohibits piercings, however, I don't open my mouth all that wide when talking and have gotten away with it for months now.)

*Changing the barbell on your own can be a *****.

PROS:

* You have a piece of metal stabbed through your freaking tongue!

* You have something new to play with when bored. Hey, it's better than chewing on pens or whatever.

* Kissing and such is a whole new experience. Though, this could possibly be a downside, depending on who you are with.

* It's rebelling without showing off too much.

This may sound preachy, but isn't meant to. Only you can decide if you should get pierced.

What I am mean is, WHY do YOU want to get pierced? If it is to follow the crowd, than, no, don't do it. If it is to please someone else, meaning a friend or siginifigant other wants you to get pierced for WHATEVER reason, than, it may not be a good idea.

Get your tongue pierced because you want to. I got mine pierced, simply and ONLY because I wanted to know what it felt like. I got pierced for myself, not for anyone else.
