Pretty Stupid...

I'm kind of lazy. Okay, REALLY lazy. I live on the 3rd floor. Whenever I'm going up to my apartment, I usually take the elevator because one, the elevators are closer than the stairs and two, I don't feel like walking up three flights of stairs. Well, my laziness eventually came back to bite me on the ***. One day I take the elevator up to my apartment. The door closes behind me and I take my usual position at a corner. I'm the only person in the elevator and I take advantage of this to hum a little ditty to myself. The elevator makes its churning noises while I hum and stare at the door. And then - the elevator stops. I stop humming. Oh, ****. I'm stuck on the elevator. I press the emergency button and while my ears are being attacked by the ceaseless blaring of the "stuck in the elevator" alarm, the building's security guards tell me to be calm while somebody comes and fetches me. And - yay for anticlimaxes - I'm out 10 minutes later. A WEEK LATER... I'm stuck on the elevator. Again. This time with an iced coffee to slake my thirst while I'm suffocating in the 80 degree heat in the elevator. A MONTH LATER... I swear to myself that I am going to take the stairs and only the stairs if I'm going up to my apartment. No more elevators for me! I keep my promise for maybe a week and a half until the summer heat gets me so tired upon returning home that I can hardly bear to walk an extra few feet to the stairs and then up them. PRESENT DAY... What is the moral of this story, you might ask? It is this - laziness and modern conveniences always prevail even when the elevator breaks down and tells you otherwise.

I got stuck some time ago. Panicked and promised myself never take the elevator up again. Our elevator is super small and fits only 2 slim people. I walked about 2 years mostly up yo the 5th floor. Except when I take groceries home. For a month I have horrible hip pain. I am pretty fit person but now i suffer from cartilage damage and bursitis! I am not lazy, but I am forced to take the hellevator. My lease ends next year and there us no way in hell I stay here in this beautiful apartmentin the heart of Vienna, Austria!

Quite naturally, your situation could have been worse... I was a property manager and I was forever, getting people out of a stopped elevator... Sometimes they had locked themselves out of their apartment sans clothing or cell phone, got on the elevator to use the phone to call the front desk. and wouldn't you know... The darn thing gets stuck with them inside... Elevator video cameras have recorded many, many funny moments, and some that you don't wanna even know about! LOL! :)<br />
