I Had a Bat In My House
When my hubby and I were first living together before we were married we lived in a big old 2 story house with a long mirror in the living room above the TV. At the time he was on 2nd shift and I was home alone with my pets which included 4 cats and a dog. I was sitting in the living room watching TV arouind dusk when all of a sudden I thought I saw something fly around the living room. I wasn't sure though because I thought maybe it was a reflection of something outside off the mirror. I stood up to investigate to make sure. Sure enough as I went into the kitchen this little creature which turned out to be a bat was flying around. I was freaking out not just because there was a bat in my house and I was alone but I was worried for the safety of my pets. I started calling around to various relatives for help but for one reason or another they couldn't come over to help me. The bat ended up on top of the kitchen cupboards and just laid there. I very heistantly and fearfully (not afraid of the bat per se but afraid he would fly at my face) stood up on a chair and then climbed on the counter with a plastic container and a turner. It took me 3 or 4 times before I was actually able to put the container over him and gently scoop him into the container so I could release him outside unharmed. I took him out onto our deck and sat him down on the railing and within seconds he flew away. That felt like a such an accomplishment to have captured a wild animal in my house unharmed and release him back into the wild.
