It's always a major trauma when an animal gets trapped inside the house. I remember once a bird somehow became trapped in the exhaust fan over the stove. You could hear it rattling around in there. I devised a big plan where there were three girls with towels standing at the ready and, when I dropped the door on the fan, the bird would fly out and one of them could throw a towel over it and trap it so we could put it out safely. Sounds good, huh?

Well, it was a good plan until I actually dropped the door and the bird flew out and all three girls screamed and dropped the towels and ran out of the room. Luckily, the siamese cat, Zoe, was sitting on the fllor and jumped, from a sitting position and caught the bird mid-flight. I was able to retrieve the bird and put it back outside unscathed. The best laid plans of mice and men.......
