I Was Twelve

My parents made all the arrangements, including other family members, family friends and our small community here in Paris fourth arrondissement. I had been told what it would involve, and where I would be afterwards. It is a mark of perceived responsibility.

When I think about it now, eleven years ago, half my life ago, I see it really was a point of change for me. It was when I started to take more interest in esoteric things, Jewish mysticism, because my observations of our life in the community, at the synagogue, with the groups we mixed in, I wanted to escape from.

This process continues, I don't really talk about the everyday happenings of being Jewish except when the experience is anti-Jewish, but I collect my thoughts in my kabbalistic interests, philosophy.
