My AbortionOf course the thought of an abortion is something to always think long and hard about. You need to be sure that it's what you really want. I'm just going to type out my whole experience from start to ending.
I have health insurance which I came to find out was the biggest relief ever money wise. I'm covered by Kaiser so I could have the choice of doing things confidential or not. Kaiser referred me to Planned Parenthood where I would call and leave a message because they are to busy doing procedures and what not to answer the phone. But they will get back to you within 1 business day but in my case I called on a Friday so they didn't get back to me till Monday, so expect that if your calling on a Friday. Planned Parenthood called me and I made an appointment for the next day at 1:15pm. Going to my appointment Kaiser had told me that I was 6 weeks along and they had did a fetal heartbeat which they would hear if it was 10 weeks or more but didn't hear anything. DO NOT believe anything till you get the ultra sound test where they can look inside your uterus because when I went into PP, I found out I was 13 weeks and 5 days along. I went in wanting to do the medication pill but changed my mind and did the procedure before I found out how far along I really was because I figured I rather feel the cramps and have heavy bleeding more at once rather than having it for 3 days or more where the medication pill would do to you. I took some pills that the doctors gave me to relax and then within 20 minutes I was ready for the procedure.
I'm going to be honest now and let me remind you that every women's body is different and also reacts differently to certain things. Sometimes what the doctor says about how much it'll hurt isn't always true. My doctor said it would hurt extremely and to just prepare for it and if I needed breaks I could have them. All in all the procedure took maybe an estimate of 8 minutes. It was uncomfortable and I did have serge after serge's of cramps, like the ones you would get on a bad period day. Other than that it's to not bad but remember that you have to be sure that this is what you want.
I'm slightly depressed about my choice now but whats done is done. I can only look forward. Oh yeah, and be prepared to be at planned parenthood for a couple hours, ugh so much paper work. For me, I'm not getting any cramps at all and I'm not having any heavy bleeding and I got the abortion done today. Every body is different like I said. But for people who do get them PP prescribes you pills for it. So that's my experience! And remember to be sure about your choice! :)
