Now I Understand

I had this friend when i first moved to the city, she was a city girl with a Doctor for a father and an Art Historian for a mother. My dad's a truck driver and my mum is a check out chick, they're not silly people, they have a lot of money - a house and a holiday house, they belong to clubs, they have friends, but i thought my new friend was really something. When she refused to admit she was wrong I just took it with a grain of salt, when she didn't apologise for ruining my prized Turkish rug, i silently suffered. Then one day she told me she was losing friends and I just realised she was losing me too. The day she cursed an unborn baby was the last day i gave her any credence, this girl is incrredibly spoilt and stuck up, she's not as smart as me, smart people can admit to being wrong, can apologise, can listen etc...she is a nothing. I think back on it now and feel silly to have been sucked in to a person who used prestige to blind people and gave nothing.
