When I was seven years old and in first grade, I had my tonsils taken out. I had sleep apnea and got strep throat often, and in class, I'd often be tired and hyper from not sleeping.
So, I barely remember it. I was put to sleep (and I scented the mask with a Lip Smacker), and before I knew it, I woke up in a bed in the PACU. My throat hurt, so they let me watch TV and eat ices. My dad picked me up and carried me all the way to the car so we could go home (it was an outpatient surgery).
When I got home, I just ate ice cream and Popsicles for a week. Which is awesome if you're a first-grader.
